Which Yoga Class is Right for You?
Yoga is for everyBODY, and there is a perfect class for you on any given day. The class for YOU today may be different to yesterday and tomorrow may be different again. Below is a list of class types with a simple explanation of each.
You are welcome at every class, regardless of your experience level. All classes have various levels allowing participation for all, regardless of your starting point.
Beginners Yoga – This is a beginner’s basic level flowing yoga class where we will focus on learning and alignment (meaning – doing the poses correctly for your unique body). These classes cover the most common postures in a Yoga Flow class, to help you to build your confidence and foundation knowledge in those positions. The pace is slower than Yoga Flow or Power Yoga class.
Power Yoga – A strong power-styled yoga class which means you keep moving and flowing between poses building internal heat in your body. This is a vigorous and energetic form of yoga building strength by holding positions as you hold poses for varying amounts of time. This class is great for building leg, arm and core strength! These classes are great if you are fit or want to get fit quickly. Don’t be intimidated by the fact they are ‘strong’, every level from beginner to advanced is accommodated.
Yoga Flow – This is a vinyasa styled class that is full of flowing sequences connected to build heat, strengthen your body and release tight muscles and tension with a relaxation element towards the end. Variations are offered for all levels so perfect if you are just starting out, or also if you are a seasoned yogi.
Yin Yoga (Long Slow, Deep Stretch) This class is a slow-paced practice which consists of a series of yoga poses held for an extended period of time. This class targets the connective tissues (tendons, fascia, ligaments) thereby increasing mobility in the joints, as well as lengthening the muscles allowing greater flexibility. This will not only improve posture, mobility and flexibility but also help release the aches and pains you’ve created through your everyday active life, or for that matter, just sitting at a desk for too many hours each day. The length of time in each position also allows you to focus on your breath and help calm the mind. Props including blocks, bolsters, blankets and straps will be used within this class to assist with your comfort and ease within postures.
Yang & Yin – The best of both worlds, a combination of dynamic and invigorating vinyasa followed by the meditative, deep tissue opening of yin yoga. We start with a moving dynamic practice, where we strengthen and stretch the body followed by Yin postures, to stretch and restore your body. The result is an open, enlivened body with a calm and peaceful mind.
All Yoga mats and props are provided in the studio so all you need to bring is comfortable clothes. Note that you are most welcome to bring your own mat if you want.
